Hanoi
We left Hoi An around midday in a 7 seater car arranged by the Vinh Hung Resort. We made it to Danang airport with plenty of time to spare and were able to have a quick lunch at a restaurant just outside the terminal. We flew with Vietnam Airlines from Danang to Hanoi when we arrived in Hanoi our taxi from the Hanoi Sunrise Hotel was waiting for us.
We checked in to the hotel but found that they had not kept our booking for the night of our return from Halong Bay and so we had to look for another hotel to book for the rest of our stay and not many had vacancies.
Hanoi Streets
Just outside the hotel we could see street sellers setting up shop on the corner of an intersection. Then a mass of people coming down the street were a school just up the road and the Dong Xuan Market which was a bit further away. The street sellers make the best use of any opportunity available and I noticed later that it was standard practise for them to do this on this corner at the same time every day.
Cuc Phuong National Park,
We took a day trip to Cuc Phuong National Park as a result of missing out on the trip to Sapa. According to our guide Cuc Phuong was the first national park created in Vietnam. It looks as if it is set up to show international organisations that it is attempting to do something for conservation.
We were taken through the Primate Rescue Centre and it was worth the visit in my opinion. We were shown gibbons, langurs and another species whose name I can't remember.
After the visit to the rescue centre we were taken to a small restaurant for lunch and then went for a hike through the park.
